ACCA Future of Work Roundtable: Manila, Philippines (22 SEP 2017)
The ACCA had exciting discussions at our Future of Work Roundtable, which was held at Seda Hotel BGC in the Philippines on 22 Sep 2017.
We had three speakers that formed the panel: Mr Andrew Charlton from AlphaBeta Australia; Mr Benedict Hernandez from Contact Center Association of the Philippines; and Mr Red Jacques Berhaldez from Globe.
Each panellist provided interesting insights on what they think the future of work might look like. Here's a couple of them:
- With more technology adopted at the workplace, two-thirds of employees will retain their job, while changing their tasks on the job.
- Technology also creates opportunities for new jobs. For example, a participant noted that his young son (under 12) had decided that he would go as "A YouTuber" for his career day at school.
- The government and private sector should be open to adapt to the latest technology at the workplace for increased efficiency and productivity.
